  • Developing AR and VR Apps with .NET and Xamarin

    West Monroe Partners

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) could be one of the most disruptive and innovative applications of technology we'll see over the next decade, with tech giants investing heavily in both technologies. While VR/AR may represent the future of entertainment, there is increasing interest from industry in using these technologies to revolutionize education, training, design, engineering, travel and more. One of the most important mobile developments of the past year was the release of Apple's ARKit and Google's ARCore, enabling mobile developers to create innovative new Augmented Reality experiences for their respective platforms. One of the leading VR plaforms is the Oculus Rift, enthusiastically kickstarted by the public and picked up by Facebook, launching an all-out VR war between tech giants and accelerating the next VR gaming revolution. We'll give an overview of AR and VR technologies, and show you how to build these experiences using a variety of technologies including ARKit for iOS, ARCore for Android, the Oculus Rift SDK, Unity, .NET, C#, and more. ASP.NET Core comes with its own built-in dependency injection (DI) framework. DI allows you to write better, more loosely-coupled code, and now with it built right into your favorite web development framework, you don't have to do anything extra to be able to use this important design pattern in your code. Already have your own favorite DI framework? No worries, you can use that too. I'll show you how to integrate a few popular DI frameworks into the highly-extensible ASP.NET framework. I'll show you how to do it all and show you examples in this session.
