- Hack GBM: Support Solutions for Glioblastoma Community - Register @ Health2Con
This event is open, even though it looks like it isn't! You can't register here, but you can via Health 2.0's Dev Challenge page - Click this (http://www.health2con.com/devchallenge/novocure-gbm-ideathon/): http://www.health2con.com/devchallenge/novocure-gbm-ideathon/ Join Novocure, Health 2.0 and talented professionals working to improve health care on the evenings of May 28th-29th in Chicago for Hack GBM, an Ideathon to create innovative approaches to supporting the Glioblastoma community. Up to $17,500 will be awarded in cash prizes! Registration for Hack GBM is free, but space is limited. Sign up today to reserve your spot! What's Glioblastoma? Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive and deadliest form of brain cancer. Diagnosis with GBM is a profoundly life changing event, not only for patients, but also for loved ones who offer significant amounts of time and energy when serving as caregivers. There must be new opportunities available to harness communications technology in ways that will help patients and caregivers. There is unrealized potential to improve their quality of life. This Ideathon will focus on the question: What technologically based resources can we create to make life easier for patients with GBM and their caregivers? What's an Ideathon? An Ideathon is an event where teams of 3 - 4 will engage in brainstorming and developing concepts for novel solutions that will culminate in pitch presentations. Prizes will be awarded to the best ideas. This event will be held the evenings of Thursday, May 28th - Friday, May 29th. Note that this event is being organized in our fair city by Health 2.0 National, not Health 2.0 Chicago. We're a subchapter volunteer organization. - Redesign Health Insurance Usability, Maybe Win a Pilot! Cigna+MATTER Healthathon
REGISTER VIA MATTER's EVENTBRITE PAGE (http://cigna-matter-hat.eventbrite.com) - it's free, but you have to register. (Can't make it tonight? Don't worry. You can still compete. Sign up at ChallengePost (http://cignamatterhat.challengepost.com/). Email Subbu with Qs - [masked]) This is MATTER's first Health-a-thon and it's with Cigna! Kick-off tonight! What's a health-a-thon? It's a hackathon for anyone interested in impacting healthcare, and you don't have to be a coder! Our Health-a-thon is 3 days over 5 weeks, so you'll have time to really build a beautiful MVP. You'll get guidance from Cigna execs and MATTER mentors + staff. Any IP created is yours! Winners will get guidance to hopefully score a pilot, cash and ongoing mentorship from Cigna and MATTER. Our keynote is Dr Richard Ferrans, and he's an expert on the Affordable Care Act. He's also the personification of an ACO! He has tons of ideas that can solve real problems in healthcare, and that means real businesses. Solve these problems on managing costs: • How can I easily verify if I am being referred to an "in-network" clinician or lab and not an "out-of-network" party? (The latter might mean unexpected costs that could have been easily avoided, and published info may be unreliable and out of date.) • Can I learn the actual amount that I owe for services and procedures "out of pocket" before I leave a clinician's office or lab, instead of receiving a bill 4-8 weeks later via snail mail? Solve these problems regarding user unfriendliness and plan obtuseness: • Most of us access payers via a phone number on our plastic wallet-friendly insurance card, and then must navigate multiple menu options, suffer hold times and authentication challenges. How can I access this information more easily? • How can I schedule the soonest available appointment with an "in network" physician or lab? I'm willing to drive far, pay a premium, and even visit virtually via telemedicine services. • Most health plan members are unaware of the additional services and benefits that their plans offer outside of "core" features. How can I easily learn about the additional services and benefits in context to my needs and lifetyle? REGISTER VIA MATTER's EVENTBRITE PAGE (http://cigna-matter-hat.eventbrite.com/)
