No one likes to talk about it, few pregnancy books even mention it, and most childbirth classes avoid the topic, but sometimes pregnancy ends in tragic loss: a stillbirth or newborn death. According to current statistics, about twenty-eight thousand infants a year die before their first birthday, and about twenty-seven thousand U.S.pregnancies end during the second half of pregnancy, known as stillbirth. At this event, a mom who had a waterbirth homebirth with her stillborn child will share her story of healing. Also attending will be CNM Amy Willen of A Woman's Place, as well as a local doula, both of whom have helped families through pregnancy and newborn loss. There will also be time for others to share their stories or fears about pregnancy and infant loss, if desired. Doulas and partners are encouraged to attend.
