• Spooky Bike Ride to Sycamore Pumpkin Festival (Larry)

    Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve

Don't put the bike away for the season just yet! Join us for a ride along the Great Western Trail for a visit to the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival. Our ride begins at the Great Western Trailhead in Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve in St Charles. From there, we will ride about 20 miles on the trail to the DeKalb County Courthouse in downtown Sycamore, where thousands of decorated pumpkins will be on display. http://sycamorepumpkinfestival.com/ We will have lunch in Sycamore, with many food vendors at the Pumpkin Festival as well as a few restaurants to choose from. We will also be in Sycamore in time for the Pumpkin Festival Parade that starts at 1 PM. The Great Western Trail has a crushed limestone surface, so a bike with wider tires is recommended. We will also ride about 1 mile on roads as we enter the town of Sycamore. Total of about 40 miles for the ride. Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve is located on Dean Street on the west side of St Charles, about one-half mile west of Randall Road. • ☼ Fox River Trail - Roundhouse to St. Charles and back!! ☼

I have to admit I've been a little lazy this season and last season...okay I've been lazy for the past few seasons. In any case, let's get out and enjoy a nice leisurely bike ride on the FOX. This ride is intended to be a leisurely ride at a modest pace . Total distance approx. 25 miles. Pace 12-14 miles per hour. If there is enough interest we can sit down and have a bite to eat and microbrew in the patio after our ride. Bring a lock. Two musts for this ride: -Sign the waiver -Wear a helmet This is a no drop ride, I will make sure we have a sweeper and re-group to ensure we stay together. Also, I understand it's Fathers day (I lost my father when I was eight). I certainly hope to see you.
