Indoor Volleyball OPEN GYM Intermediate/Advanced - Wednesdays

HEPD Willow Recreation Center

Players wanted for a fun & friendly Intermediate/Advanced weekly Open Gym in Hoffman Estates on Wednesdays, 8pm-10pm. Play starts promptly at 8pm, come a few minutes early to warm-up. Desired Attitude: Fun & friendly! No negativity or bad attitudes, please :-) This gym is a mix of intermediate and advanced players, typically B (intermediate) & BB (upper-intermediate) and also a few A (advanced) players (at times). Players are divided into 4 teams on 2 nets. The teams play each other the whole night. On occasion a player may be asked to move to another team. This gym is not safe for beginners. This is real volleyball with 3 hits required (pass, set, hit). High school gym class volleyball is definitely not enough training - you are a beginner if this is all you know. Take lessons at a local volleyball club or go to clinics prior to attending. If you were a good and/or trained player in the past but haven't played in many years, get yourself into decent physical shape before attending. We don't expect perfection but you have to move! The guideline is 70% or better on all skills (dirty looks are forbidden on all flubs). :-) Advanced players must be willing to "play down". Please respect this and do not require certain people on your team each week. The Park District has put this gym on notice (i.e. no drama allowed or they may close it down). Go to a league if you expect to always play with certain people. Typically we go to First Place Sports Bar on Algonquin Rd for food and drinks each week. The food is excellent there (for a bar!). Newcomers welcome! $5 for Hoffman Estates Residents, $6 for non-residents Sign-in and pay the receptionist. You will be directed to the gym. Come even if only 2 people RSVP - we will be there playing, for sure. Questions? Contact Kathy

Friday Vball in Winfield(Competitive)

Oakwood Park/Old Pond Park

We have had this for the past 10 years now. Let the Friday tradition begin... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is not recreational. This is competitive and you have to be at least B level. So please sign up only • if you are familiar with the skill levels and you meet the criteria • if you are not familiar with skill levels but have played in high school or college or clubs • if you are not familiar with skill levels but play year long indoor and outdoor open gyms/tournaments and familiar with positions and have over 65% success rate in passes and sets and get the ball in play over 80% of the time. We have had good competitive games on Fridays for the past 10 years because we always attract good players since we keep it competitive. So please respect the skill requirements. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We will be playing 4s. So if the meetup is full, please signup for the waiting list. And for some reason if someone cannot make it, please give as much notice as possible so we can get a replacement. Also for people who are not familiar with this park, they have 2 sand courts with lights. So we can play until late. Since it is a park, there are bug issues. So don't forget to bring spray. Typically we go to this restaurant (http://www.caliendos.com/) after the game. See you all this Friday!!!!
