I'm the one that started this Chi-FLU madness back in 2007! However, as of 2012, I've stepped down from Chi-FLU leadership in order to spend more time with family - but I'll still enjoy the club & the drives.
I'm constantly rebuilding & modifying my '74 124 Spider. It has a balanced 2000cc engine with HC pistons, oversize valves, isky springs, hot cams, dual carbs, a lightened flywheel, and a full stainless steel Stebro exhast. The car has vented & slotted rotors with Ferodo pads, and braided stainless brake lines in order to 'slow that go'! It has Bi-Turbo rims, an Alfa Spider steering wheel, and a roll-bar with new style integrated 3 point seat belts. It has dull, mismatched paint & a bit of surface rust...because i want to DRIVE it, not polish it! :) I also have a '78 131 Brava 'Great White' wagon. It has upgraded H1 headlights, a Euro grill, a Nardi steering wheel, and some awesome Panasports - but is otherwise stock. All the smog stuff has been removed in order to increase the output of the original 1800 engine, but the automatic transmission keeps me out of trouble ;-)
I bought my first Fiat when I was 19, way back in 1986...it was a 1972 Spider - Orange on black, and it was GREAT!
There was one day in 1990, when I was driving my '79 Spider, when at a stop light I thought I smelled gas, looked down at my feet, and realized there was a puddle of gasoline 2 inches deep, and sloshing around!
I own several Fiats - a highly modified '74 Spider (The Beast), and a very original "survivor"[masked] Spider.
I'm so VERY proud to be part of this group! What a GREAT bunch of people, everyone is so very enthusiastic about these old cars, helping each other out, and getting together for events!
