Announcing a new Meetup for The Chicago T'ai Chi Meetup Group!

What: Push Hands Meetup

When: June 18,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Let's meet and practice push hands

By the way: This meetup is intended for members who are already somewhat experienced in t'ai chi (or some other martial art). I'm of the opinion that it doesn't benefit someone to practice push hands (especially free style) if they don't have some experience and knowledge of the form and basic principles. Also, I'm a little selfish and want to have this time to practice push hands, not teach t'ai chi. If you haven't practiced push hands before, or in a while, that's OK, but this is not the place to come and get an introduction to t'ai chi. For that, please come to our next monthly meetup or ask me about beginning classes. Of course, it's a public park and I don't mind if you want to come and watch.

My usual format for meetups like this is for people to pair up for about 10-15 minutes at a time. Each pair needs to communicate their experience/comfort level and come to an agreement about how to proceed. Different people will likely work on different things. Some may stick to push hands forms, others will do free style. Fixed-step, moving step. Just make sure both parties are comfortable with what's going on.

Please RSVP as soon as you can. Look forward to seeing everyone! Thanks!
