E2C Monthly Smash and Mario Kart Tournament

Events2Compete will be hosting a monthly Smash and Mario Kart tournament on the first Sunday of every month. We'll be running 1v1's only for Brawl, Melee, PM and 64 from 11 am - 7 pm at Durty Nellie's in Palatine. Due to popular demand, we will now be adding Mario Kart 8, Double Dash, and Mario Kart 64 to the event. If more than 10 people request a different game in the poll below, we will include it at the tournament. Durty Nellie's is a 30 second walk from the Palatine metra station. All tournaments will start at 11:30 am. 11:00 - 11:30 am will be free play. You must be registered no later than 12:00 noon to play. Each player may register in 3 tournaments max. You may play in no more than 2 Smash tournaments. Entry fee will be $10 for each Smash and Mario Kart tournament. There is a one time venue fee of $10 regardless how many tournaments you register for. Visitors must pay a $5 venue fee. This allows us to book the venue for 8 hours and to make sure every tournament has enough time to finish and that players get enough playing time. We will give out discounts of $2 for a console, $2 for a game, and $2 for a CRT if you bring any to the event. We were short on setups at our last event so please bring some if you can. The more we have the better. First to arrive with setups get a discount until they are not needed anymore. If you have attended one of our tournaments before, for every new player you bring out, you will be given a $2 discount if they register for a tournament at the same time as you. A $30 pot bonus will be given for every 25 players that register for any specific tournament so make sure to invite your friends and help promote the tournament to increase the pot.

Players will be placed into pools of at least 6 players and you will play everyone in your pool once. The top 2 or 3 players will advance depending on the size of the pools. Pools will be seeded based on your previous rankings at our tournaments. Players will advance to a seeded double elimination tournament.

Around what time does a crowd begin to build up?

    July 5, 2014

    • Joe F

Around noon 95% of the players will be there. Most will show up between 11 am and noon. Mario Kart games will most likely start later after Smash gets going.
