Provinces of China :HUNAN & Smithsonian Freer/Sackler

Dear Fellow Travelers,

After taking the cruise down the Yangtze (Chang Jiang) River to Wuhan, we leave Hubei and trek to nearby HUNAN PROVINCE.

So far we have visited the Provinces of China: Jiangsu, Sichuan, , Hebei, Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Zhejiang, Shandong, Lianoning, and Hubei.

11:30am - We gather at Teaism, our favorite eatery. Lisa and Lela, the managers, are happy to see us and have reserved the Platform for us at no-charge so be a good guest and purchase food and drink. Delicious meal!

Noon - Facts sheets on Hunan will be handed out. Talk about Hunan with your conversation partner. No-pressure, just have fun speaking Mandarin at your level whether it be Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced/Native.

1:00-2:00pm - Know and Show! Introduce yourself and say a few words on Hunan in Mandarin using your fact sheet or personal experience from your visit.

CHALLENGE: Find Hunan Province on the large map. Exchange info on Hunan, bring books or pictures.

AFTERWARDS: We will walk 10 minutes across the Mall to the Smithsonian Freer/Sackler to enjoy their Current Exhibits: Style in Chinese Landscape Painting:The Song Dynasty, Chigusa and Art of Tea, and Chinese Ceramics for Tea in Japan.

There's also the Smithsonian Folklife Festival going on so you can go to the Festival and see the exhibitions and demonstrations on China.
