April 3, 2010
I'm a scientist and professor by day, and philosopher by night. I believe our civilization would've been better off had it spent equal time advancing its ethical methodologies as it did its scientific ones: It's time our species consistently committed to reasoning, regardless of our diverse worldviews, to live up to its name, "Homo sapiens."
I organize the 7-yr old 400+ First Minneapolis Circle of Reason, the 8-yr old 400+ Secular Bible Study, & the new Circle of Ijtihad Meetups -- each a venue to practice "pluralistic rationalism" by reasoning dialogue across our disparate worldviews.
April 3, 2010 is Day One for The Circle in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Calling all Rationalists, Objectivists, Trekkers (and not just Vulcans), Theists, Atheists, Humanists, Transhumanists, Singularitarians, Geeks, E.T.s or A.I.s (we'll keep your secret), Skeptics, Brights, Not-so-Brights, Freethinkers, Dogmatists, Politicos, Pundits, Saints, Sinners and Sensei, Differently-Abled, Races, Genders, and Orientations -- and every denomination thereof! It's time to meet the enemy, 'cause "they" is us!
