City Vino Wine Flight this week

Details

Join us as we explore wines from Turkey and Hungary—regions not always top of mind when it comes to wine, yet deeply rooted in the ancient trade routes that first carried wine across Europe. While not the birthplace of wine itself, these countries lie close to the cradle of winemaking—Georgia and Armenia—and have been crafting wines for millennia. Expect rare and unusual grape varieties with names that may challenge your pronunciation but will reward your curiosity. These wines bring history, character, and a welcome departure from the familiar. Why are they only now arriving on U.S. shelves? Because many of us are ready to move beyond the ordinary Chardonnay and embrace wines with a bit more mystery and sophistication. Dare to taste something different—you might just fall in love with the unexpected.
SHABO Winery Limited Edition Saperavi Merlot Odesa Ukraine 2023 60% Merlot, 40% Saperavi. Floral bouquet of violets, red rose, and potpourri, layered over dark tones of black plum, blackberry, chocolate, earth, and clay. The palate follows with wild berry bramble, sour black cherry, raspberry, and dried blackberry, grounded by wet stone, forest floor, and wet leaves. Structured, aromatic, and deeply expressive!
SHABO Winery Telti-Kuruk Reserve Odesa Ukraine 2023 100% Telti-Kuruk. Wildflower aromas layered over warm, honeyed tones. The nose evokes a canned fruit cup medley of pear, peach, pineapple, and mandarin orange which is lifted by bright citrus and a hint of wet stone minerality. On the palate, the wine expands with crisp yellow apple, passionfruit, pluots, all wrapped in a subtly creamy texture.
Vinkara Winery Kalecik Karasi Northern Anatolia Turkey 2021 100% Kalecik Karasi. Expressive nose bursting with aromas of sour red cherry, strawberry-rhubarb compote, raspberry, red currants, rose petals, mulberry, warm berry jam, and a touch of pink peppercorn. On the palate, it unfolds with flavors of red plum, blackberry, cracked black pepper, and a hint of wet stone minerality.
HUS Winery Emir Cappadocia Turkey 2022 100% Emir. Aromas of tart green apple, citrus, peal, pear, honeysuckle floral, ripe pineapple, blood orange, subtle herbal notes. On the palate light crips acidity brightens notes of peach and stone fruits, white rose florals, ripe pear, with a wet stone minerality and pine nut undertones.
