New Meeting: Ballet Folklorico

From: Gerry M.
Sent on: Wednesday, April 2, 2008 7:57 PM
Announcing a new meeting for The Santa Cruz Classical Music, Theater, Opera Meetup Group!

What: Ballet Folklorico

When: Friday, April 25, 8:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meeting Description: We are so lucky to live in a university town! UCSC's Arts & Lectures program brings world-class artists to town from fall through spring. This time we'll enjoy a performance of Ballet Folklorico "Quetzalli" de Veracruz: http://artslectures.ucsc.edu/artistpages/ballet_folklorico.html. I love the energy and grace of Mexican dance, and those big swirling skirts -- gorgeous!

We will meet for dinner at the Crepe Place, 1134 Soquel Ave., at 5:45, then walk across the street to the Rio Theater around 7:15 for the performance. Seats are not reserved, so getting to the theater early will help us get good seats. I suggest you purchase your ticket in advance. If you can't make it for dinner, please come to the Crepe Place anyway, before 7:15. It will be easier to find us there than at the theater.

The Crepe Place, http://www.thecrepeplace.com, is a beloved, only-in-Santa Cruz restaurant that hasn't changed much in 35 years -- funky, charming dining room; large menu with soups, salads, and homemade bread, in addition to the crepes. The spinach crepe is yummy, the turkey crepe tastes like Thanksgiving.

We'll be joined at dinner by Robert Seelig's Cooking and Recipes Meetup Group: http://cooking.meetup.com/442. We're hoping some of them will join us for the Ballet Folklorico too!
