    Location visible to members

This is our annual meeting -- informal discussion on who we are, what our club does, and why it is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization. If you are interested in learning how to sail or improving your sailing skills, this is a great way to to it.

  • Please become a 2019 PAID Member of the Clear Lake Sailing Club

    Needs a location

    $95.00

Our annual fees are $95, due each April 1st. Your payment here is for the 2019 year. This membership fee is tax deductible and is used by our 501-c-3 non-profit club to simply keep the operational aspects of our club going! That includes fixing boats that are donated to us, which we resell cheaply to encourage small sailboat sailing. Your membership donation is also used to support our Educational development efforts -- with our Introduction to Sailing classes. You can join meetup.com for free and it is easy, but this is not the same as becoming a member of the Clear Lake Sailing Club. We encourage you to join the meetup site, but we would also like you to become a member of the Clear Lake Sailing Club itself by donating $95 for an annual membership in our club. Your membership donation is valid from April 1st 2019 through March 31, 2020. Complete the application located at: http://www.clearlakesailingclub.org/2017_CLSC_membership_app.pdf and send the completed form to [masked]. By being a member, you are eligible for many of our events listed on this site at our extremely low prices. We are completely a non-profit organization, with no salaries, and no hidden connections to profit-oriented sailing companies, etc. That makes us relatively unique in the area! You may pay for this membership by credit card. An alternate way to pay for your formal membership in the CLSC is via Paypal. Simply login to Paypal at https://www.paypal.com and then send $95 (consider us family and friends) to [masked] . Please annotate your Paypal payment with "CLSC membership 2019". Note: there is even one more alterative to pay your membership fees: it is simple and classical: -- just mail a personal check to : "Clear Lake Sailing Club" and send it through the traditional mail system to: Clear Lake Sailing Club, PO Box[masked], Nassau Bay Texas 77258. Include your name and phone number.

  • Basic Sailing Techniques : Class - 2019 Opportunity #1

    Texas City Dike

    $95.00

Interested in learning to sail? Classes are targeted to beginners interested in the sport of small sailboat (under 20 feet in length) sailing. Class size is limited to the first 10 registrations. This class is for adults and young adults over 14 years old. This is an on-the-water (and in-the-water!) class, where students are introduced to sailing in a beach environment. Students will rig a small sailboat, learn the basics of sailing and exercise these basic techniques on a Sunfish sailboat. This is where you can really prove to yourself that you understand the basics of sailing! The $95 fee (PER STUDENT) includes club membership in the Clear Lake Sailing club for 2019. Participants must be comfortable in the water and know how to swim. Students who have signed up will be notified via this MEET UP event notice the night before the event if weather (strong winds or predicted lightning) requires a re-scheduling. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THIS SITE BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE CLASS LOCATION. If so we will do our best to schedule on the following day or next weekend. Dress for the beach and bring your favorite refreshments. If you have a life vest, bring it, otherwise we have some to share. We will send out details on location and logistics the night before the class. Note that there is a separate $5 fee to enter the dike -- we unfortunately cannot do anything about that . :-( Here is a link ( http://www.clearlakesailingclub.org/TexasCityDikeInstructions.doc)to directions and logistics associated with your day at the Texas City Dike. Registration closes 2 days before the scheduled event. After that, you may email the organizer to see if openings remain, and then pay at the event itself, but the cost will increase to $110. Prior to the actual on-the-water class, we highly recommend you download and review our online training material ( http://www.clearlakesailingclub.org/index2.html ) associated with this class. Our class is basically an execution of this training on the water. Final note: (the legal stuff) -- these on-the-water activities are generally safe, but one has to be careful and aware of the dangers of being on the water. You will be asked to sign a waiver form ( http://files.meetup.com/3405522/CLSC%20Release%20Statement%20Form.pdf ) showing that you understand the risks.
