Remember that our club is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization, so your one time annual membership fees are tax deductible. Our non-profit organization's only goal is to promote sailing in the local area. We have no affiliation with any commercial companies.
Interested in learning to sail? The Clear Lake Sailing Club (CLSC) will be sponsoring a free "Introduction to Sailing" class to paid-up members of the CLSC. Classes are targeted to beginners interested in the sport of small sailboat (under 20 feet in length) sailing. Class size is limited to the first 20 registrations. This class is for adults and young adults over 14 years old. Part 1 of this class is a 4 hour session in a classroom environment, so plan accordingly. Please bring a small notebook and pen for taking notes during the class. Dress code is relaxed: classroom environment. The class will be offered in a meeting room at the Sundance Grill, so drinks and lunch will be offered if you are interested - but are strictly optional. We encourage you to purchase something while enjoying the class, as a token of thanks for letting us use the Waterford Harbor Marina facilities for free.
If the student then wishes to exercise what they have learned in class, they are invited participate in an on-the-water exercise, scheduled on the day after the class (weather permitting). During the demonstration, students will rig a small sailboat and exercise basic sailing maneuvers. This is where you can really prove to yourself that you understand the basics of sailing! Participants must be comfortable in the water and know how to swim. This is a somewhat athletic event, so participants should be prepared to capsize and upright their small sailboat, and climb back onboard.
