It looks as if the Cleveland Aikikai will be having a demo today (Sunday) as well if i am reading the events correctly. Can anyone verify? It appears to be at 1:15 on Sunday.

FYI for any folks interested, the Erie Card Game Players will be hosting Asian Card Games at Koko Bakery on Sunday afternoon.

In conjunction with the Cleveland Card Game Players of course!

(Sorry, it's just Asian card games restricted to what I know from Taiwan... I do have and have played Japanese hanafuda card games in some video games looong ago... but... haven't figured those out yet to add to my card games bag that I can teach! Or does anyone know those games well enough to teach and show us? We'd welcome it! Otherwise... maybe I'll have to teach myself to include Japanese card game!)

Thanks for the suggestion Lisa! I've already spoken with the owner of Koko though, so she's already expecting us. Maybe next time! Hopefully by then we'd add Hanafuda or some Japanese cards to our games! =)

In case anyone was planning to stop into this... It was cancelled since I had a little incident and couldn't make it. Hope everyone enjoyed/enjoys the festivities!

I am attending with my Son. I am looking forward to it as well as the cultural learning for myself and my Son. Lisa Wong - are you the same Lisa Wong from JMHS "85" by chance?

Is the table for the Japanese meet-up? I will be able to volunteer to staff the table and make a sign. Also, I want to plan get-together after the festival for those who wish. I am interested in the Korean restaurant upstair in the center. Wonder if you have any suggestion regarding the matter..?

      January 24, 2013

    • Lisa W.

Yes, the table will be for the Japanese Meet Up and I've invited the Cross Cultural Meet Up as well. Just to have a check in point for people to meet up. Maybe recruit more members. Miega is the Korean restaurant upstairs. There is also a Pho place on the first floor and Siam Cafe, Flavors of India, and Asia Foods will have food stands during the event. We will also have an Asian food truck just outside the doors.

Though I've already moved to Erie... I'll be there with some folks for the festivities but also host Asian Card Games on Sunday at Koko's in honor of Chinese New Year! Us card players have fun with themed games. =)
