The Greater Cleveland Writers Meet up Group Monthly Meetup

  • Jun 4, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We'll introduce new visitors, and do a quick recap of what every one is working on. Bring samples of your 'work' to share, or a question, a struggle, .... this group has a ton of experience, or at least a ton of empathy. Also, this is NOT just for children's fiction. Any writer is welcome, and genre. Sci-Fi, Fiction, Fantasy, Technical, Non-Fiction, you name it.... We will stay in the main area of books, but can also discuss freelancing to magazines, zines, blogging for fun and profit, you name it. Create a 30 second elevator speech on your work, and why some one should publish it.... and where? If you don't know what an elevator speech is, that's ok, once you join you can access an elevator speech template in our files section! Most importantly, what are you willing to do about getting published? Or what does being published mean to you. You'd be surprised how many writers never intend to make money from their writing, but just want to be published.
I'll also discuss what I find are the top 5 reasons most writers never publish, if things get dull, and so far they never have!. I will also cover 5 tactics you can use to get published.
Our home is at Vision 21 which is at: 1495 Warren Road, Lakewood, OH 44107. Questions or concerns email me [masked] Size is limited to 35 people. If you RSVP 'yes' please show up because we reserve space . I request every one who joins us to kick in $5, or bring an item to share. If things are tight, come anyway. These venues open their doors to us. Please be considerate. I know budgets are tight, but this keeps the venue eager to see us again next month.

I love attending this writers' group. I am always learning something new. The variety of readings are fascinating and encourage me even more to write.

There was a fair amount of feedback offered by a variety of different people. We have a lot of intelligent, educated, creative people in this group who don't always get the opportunity to share and I really enjoyed hearing them offer their support and constructive criticism to the readers. Loving the timekeeping...keep up a good thing!

of all the times I missed, I had to miss June 4th...are the movie guys coming again?....this was exactly what I needed to promote my boyfriend's screenplay (how to go about it, etc.)...anyway to know and inform in advance who is presenting something unique next time??

Many of the regulars came up afterwards and mentioned they thought this was one of the best they've attended. The diversity of the writing, the depth, the commentary. We enjoyed hearing from Chris and Chuck, who are filmmakers who will present on the aspects of writing for film, and developing screen plays. TL Champion is also offering her workshop this Saturday at Panera North Olmsted. Write Here, Write Now! 2~4 PM $15.00 (Half Off) for Members of our group!

Going to have to cancel. It's a long drive for me to begin with and then add on the detours because of the movie. Maybe next month.
