Re: [movies-320] Everyone Else: Cinematheque / Falafel Cafe

hi everyone.  i've been receiving emails for the past few months but haven't yet attended.  thought i'd weigh in on an option for that second week of june in case anyone is interested.
these aren't well-known movies but they are indie.  this year's Ohio Independent Film Festival will take place june 12-14 and although the program isn't quite finished yet, i do know of two that are interesting:
sunday, june 13 is a world premiere of a local fimmaker's new film on folk music legend Vince Martin.  this is also a fundraiser for local film organization Independent Pictures.  the film is called "Vagabondo!"
monday, june 14 is *most likely* a documentary on two doctors who blow the whistle on unfair and shockingly illegal practices for collecting monies owed to a local hospital in Albany, Georgia, "Do No Harm."  although this screening is not *official* i do believe that as long as everything pans out, the filmmaker is going to be in attendance.
i'm not sure if either of these selections are of interest but if so, i can work out slightly discounted tickets, i'm sure (although the Vagabondo! screening is a fundraiser and regular tickets are either $75, which includes meet and greet with the filmmaker, Vince Martin himself and Mark Sebastian, younger brother of Lovin' Spoonful's John Sebastian, cocktails and appetizers, movie plus a band; $25 tickets include film and band only.  i understand if that is not of interest for the group.  for Do No Harm, regular ticket prices are $10 and i'm sure discounts would be no problem).
if interested i can give the rest of the details in the next couple days.

Hi everyone,

There are a number of decent indy and foreign films coming in the next month, but I chose to select one that you haven't heard of. Everyone else is a small German film about breaking up. It made waves at the New York film festival. Just be sure to not bring a date.

When: Thursday, June 17,[masked]:00 PM

Falafel Cafe
11365 Euclid Ave
Cleveland, OH 44106

Other movies for your consideration:

This Sunday is the 6th all-time best Science Fiction film from Germany but perhaps the MOST influential. Even Superman lived there :-) Not to be missed. This Sunday at 2.

The Secret in their Eyes took the Oscar for best Foreign language film. Note the new time and date (this Wednesday at 5).

We have an open week and a half the second week in June. There are good movies out there but Bill and I can't do them all. If you see a movie that you would like to sponsor, just let me know. Assistant organizers get free movie passes from time to time and their yearly fee is waived. Give it some thought.

If you haven't paid for 2010, please use Paypal above or give your money to your movie organizer.

Hope to hear from one or more of you about your ideas on a movie between June 7 and 16.
