New Event: No Country for Old Men: TBD / TBD

From: Jims
Sent on: Saturday, November 17, 2007 4:49 PM
Hello everyone

Thanks to everyone who attending the Draughtman movie.

Schedule your calendars for Dec. 5. We will be seeing Country at the Cedar Lee or possibly another more central theater if it shows up and the time is right.

I hope to see some of you at (the much less violent) Live In Maid.

Announcing a new event for Cleveland Independent Movie Goers!

What: No Country for Old Men: TBD / TBD

When: Wednesday, December 5, 6:00 PM

Movie admission: USD8.25 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: I have always believed that everything balances out. Since I recently selected the highly "sensitive" "Live In Maid" about women and class, it is only fair to see a movie with an extra dose of testosterone.

Please be WARNED: A.O Scott describes the film as "bleak, scary and relentlessly violent.".

6:00 EATS: We will pick a movie near the theater.

7:15 MOVIE: Currently this is showing at the Cedar Lee. If it shows up at another theater that is more central AND allows a little more time for dinner, we might move the location.

Meet at the movie entrance door IN THE THEATER LOBBY 5 minutes ahead of time or look for the group inside the theater or meet us afterwards under the marquis.

DISCUSSION: Afterwards, we will walk over to Jimmy O'Neill's or some other place for a light bite or beverage.
DESCRIPTION: Violence and mayhem ensue after a hunter stumbles upon some dead bodies, a stash of heroin and more than $2 million in cash near the Rio Grande.

REVIEW: "A return to glory for the Coen Brothers, a revisiting of the formula that worked so well for them in Fargo, but with a darker, more cynical twist."

QUESTION TO PONDER: Is the violence in the movie needed to advance the plot?

ONE LAST NOTE: If you are interested in attending the "Get Shorty" party, don't wait too much longer since the event does sell out.

Cleveland Cinemas (Cedar Lee), Cleveland Heights, 2163 Lee Road.

Cinemateque, Cleveland Institute of Art, 11141 East Blvd.

Cleveland Museum of Art Panorama Series, 11150 East Blvd.

Movie Reviews.

NOTE TO FIRST TIME GOERS: This group has been successful partly because members have a genuine interest in meeting fellow independent movie goers. We don't always know where to look for you, especially first timers, which is why I offer multiple meeting points (e.g. under the marquis, in the theater, reserved table at dinner). If you see a group of people talking about good movies they have seen, they are most likely a part of our group. Please join in. We are always happy to get new people involved. Feel free to send an email letting us know you are coming.

NOTE TO ALL: In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.
