Is Once enough or is it falling slowly into mediocrity

Curiously, a couple of you questioned what the big hype was about Once and thought that the song was just okay. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but everyone who saw the movie liked the song and were very please that they won the oscar. Those less fortunate (e.g. those of you who didn't see the movie) were non-plussed.

I suppose you could compare the concept with Staying Alive. Without the movie, the song is 3 brothers singing at least one octave too high. With the movie, it defines an era of disco and dancing. Even today, I still see a young John Travolta walking the streets just ah ah ah staying alive.

Once doesn't have a big plot or even the best camera work, but I don't think I saw anything else last year that had as much heart. It is also a "theater" movie if you ever get the chance to see it again.
