New Event: The Real Dirt on Farmer John: Shaker Square Cinemas / fire

From: Jims
Sent on: Sunday, September 9, 2007 8:46 AM
Hello everyone

As requested, we will be seeing a Saturday evening movie followed by dinner at a well-respected restaurant.

I hope you will be able to make it.

What: The Real Dirt on Farmer John: Shaker Square Cinemas / fire

When: Saturday, September 22, 7:15 PM

Movie admission: USD8.25 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: The topic of where we get our food and how it is produced has been in the news of late. Join us to hear the dirt on one family's experience with farming.

We have invited the Vegetarian Meetup group as our special guests. I am sure they will share an opinion or two.

7:00-7:30 MOVIE: Meet in the lobby by the entrance to the movie 5 minutes ahead of time or look for the group inside the theater or meet us afterwards under the marquis. Check back for the exact time a week ahead.

8:30-9:30 EATS AND DISCUSSION: fire is at the forefront of the organic and local food movement in the Cleveland area. It is a 3 minute walk from the theater. Their unique menu includes a wide variety of meat and vegetarian-based en trees. Afterwards, there are a number of places we can grab a coffee or late night drink.

If you prefer to sit at a table that is completely vegetarian, indicate that on your RSVP or email Jims directly.

DESCRIPTION: Meet Farmer John, a man who will turn every idea you ever had about what it means to be an American farmer, or an American dreamer, on its head. Farmer John might sit on a tractor but he?s also an outrageous artist, a maverick environmentalist, a homespun rebel, a pink-boa-wearing eccentric, a playful provocateur ? and the incredible human being whose inspirational story of revolutionizing his family farm and redeeming his own life has won accolades and awards at film festivals around the world.

REVIEW: "This is a loving, moving, inspiring, quirky documentary that was made while the lives it records were being lived."

GETTING THERE: For those coming from the south or west, take I-490 to E. 55th and take a left to go North. Right on Woodland Ave for several miles. Right on North Moreland. Parking is available directly behind the theater. You can also access the Square from the Blue or Green line Rapid lines.

Movie Reviews.

NOTE TO FIRST TIME GOERS: This group has been successful partly because members have a genuine interest in meeting fellow independent movie goers. We don't always know where to look for you, especially first timers, which is why I offer multiple meeting points (e.g. under the marquis, in the theater, reserved table at dinner). If you see a group of people talking about good movies they have seen, they are most likely a part of our group. Please join in. We are always happy to get new people involved. Feel free to send an email letting us know you are coming.

NOTE TO ALL: In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.
