Secular Sunday Social #3

  • Independence Public Library

  • Freethinkers,

We have a special surprise in store for Secular Sunday Social ("S-Cubed") #3!

Renowned local evolutionary biologist Dr. Patricia Princehouse will be with us, and she'll be bringing along a good friend of hers - paleoanthropologist Dr. Isaiah Nengo!

For the first hour, we'll enjoy some good food and camaraderie (the variety of food and drink that attendees provided for the first two "S-Cubed" was amazing).

Around 2:30, we will be treated to a very special, cutting-edge presentation by Dr. Nengo on the "Darwin Day" (month?) theme, titled Variation and Branching Order: How Evolutionary Concepts Drive Individual Behavior, Public Policy, and Social Organization in America Today.

As it will once again be a potluck, bringing a snack, lunch item or drink (non alcoholic of course) is encouraged (but not mandatory). We will supply coffee and a food item or 2 or 3. There is a small kitchenette attached to the room - we can't actually cook anything, but we can otherwise prepare food or warm stuff up there. There is a small fridge and a microwave. We'll be making full power coffee, so if anyone would like decaf or tea, please consider bringing it (and maybe indicate as such in the comments below).

These "S-Cubed" meetups are a great way for newer members to meet and mingle with others that have been around for awhile. And this one will have special guests and a most interesting presentation to boot!

    See you there! :)

If it's OK I thought I'd bring some doughnut holes because people seem to like them, but mostly because I have a horrible lack of imagination.

Won't be able to make it, unfortunately. Friend is in a big race (50k trail race) and I'm heading up the cheering (crewing) section.

I'm bringing my Brussels sprouts/apple salad. Or are we supposed to list what we won't be bringing? I'm confused now.
