RE: [humanism-174] A&E program

Just to add to the fun, and not to take off topic but:

Michael Dowd is an excellent speaker, and an ordained minister to boot.

Also, I heard a Sikh speak once.  Quick synopsis: God created everything.  How, well the scientists will tell us as they figure it out, but God did it.

Just food for thought

Subject: [humanism-174] A&E program

Did anyone watch the 2-hour program on A&E Monday night tracing the history of the various hominid species and which ones died out and which species humans developed from? Just wondering if anyone recorded it or knows if it will be on again. It had "cavemen" in the title.

I caught only bits and pieces but the one thing that REALLY intrigued me was they were describing how for the Neanderthals, whom we did not descend from, life was just as they saw it in the here and now, the immediate moment, with no further meaning. However, what differentiated humans was, they said, they by virtue of their larger brains, developed a capacity for "IMAGINATION" and started developing "theories" about why they were there and for what reason.

I thought this was an excellent explanation (although not specifically stated on the show) that the ability of the brain to "IMAGINE" gave rise to the development of the idea of some supreme being or creator or regulator or whatever in order to explain what they didn't have scientific knowledge to understand.

So according to the producers of this program, "God" or any such thing is just a figment of the human imagination!!!!!!!!

So I thought it an excellent show and would like to see the entirety. I bet all the creationists are boycotting A&E now. Don't think it will change their programming though. Hehehehe.
