I know that the L.D.S. officially disavowed polygamy many decades ago (it used to be one of the main tenants of their faith, until the U.S. federal government told Utah's government that it must make polygamy illegal in order to gain statehood.), but does anyone find it ironic that the Mormon's gave so much money and put so much effort and support into a law that defines marriage as "a union between one man and one woman." ?  Also, it's always nice to see that people of different faith traditions who disagree fundamentally on so many core issues, can unite when it comes to keeping a minority group disenfranchised.   Randy

I don't know for sure, but the lawsuits may have to do with them not wanting to give the same employee benefits to gay spouses in states where it is the law to do so. Just a guess.

I agree--the Catholic commercial was very yucky.  The music, the images, the language ("standing side-by-side").  Also, I don't understand how same-sex marriage threatens religious liberty (the speaker claims that churches get sued when they want to follow their beliefs).  By the way, that one Mormon boy (the short one) seems gay--along with the good Catholic professor.
