I honestly don't remember anyone using any negatively witty anti-Democratic remarks. And I personally have not been offended by any ones political statements. Maybe I missed something.

Hey, wait a minute- I realize that through the years I have sometimes been absent from the forum for 3 or 4 days at a time. But in general I have "caught up" with the activity, and I honestly don't remember you being treated in a vile manner. I remember you calling some of us "Comrades", but I don't remember anyone being offended by your implying that we were communists :) There was one on the forum who was capable of vileness towards other members, but that person has been out of the group for some time.

Who was "drummed out"?

Boy, did they tear me a new one.  And not in a constructive, thoughtful, evidence-based, point-counterpoint fashion.  Lots of vile, hateful name-calling.  And I'm more Democrat than Republican.
Everyone wants to dish it out, but no one wants to take it.  I don't want to take it, so I stopped dishing it out.  And since I agree with 99% of the religious, science, and social-issue comments here, I stopped altogether.  I like the group and the forum and love to read the church/state and science articles, but this just isn't the place for respectful economic political discussion.
And since then, they've drummed out a number of others.  Some deservedly so, due to their manner; however, some simply disagreed, questioned, weren't as fully-formed, or weren't as far along the path to atheism as the rest of us.  Rather than win these people over and help guide them down the path, they bullied them right out the door...with an unflattering story to tell their friends about atheists.
