Ludum Dare 25 Official CGD Site

  • This will be our official gathering site for Ludum Dare 25. Whether you're participating as a solo developer in the Compo, or doing something with a group for the Jam, it's always good to have the moral support of your friendly neighborhood Cleveland Game Developer, and a lot of fun to see what everyone's working on.

This time, we'll be doing a light-weight organization effort. Chris Sanyk is organizing it and will be at the Launch House space by 7pm on Friday night to open the doors. LD Theme announcement is normally at 9pm. Please bring your own food and other comforts that you may require. We will not be taking any money collection to provide food or supplies this time around, so anything you want to have there, you'll want to bring it with you.

We will be holding the event at the Shaker|LaunchHouse startup incubator. LaunchHouse ( is a lean new public-private partnership that fosters entrepreneurial success and job creation through seed capital, education and innovation. This Northeast Ohio organization connects new entrepreneurs with proven business leaders in a grassroots, for-profit model that can be successfully replicated nationwide. This is an exciting and unique space that will give our group plenty of room to work. Please note that we will only be using the LaunchHouse space during the hours specified below. We will not be able to provide sleeping locations or overnight access to the facility. Note that for people participating in the 72 hr Jam, the deadline for completing your project is Monday, but the Launch House space will only be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The exact schedule for when the site will be closing at night and opening in the morning is still being determined.  Currently, this event only has one organizer (Chris Sanyk).  If that remains the case, we'll be closing the space at 1am Friday and Saturday nights, and at 10pm on Sunday, and re-opening at 10am Sat and Sun morning.  Watch this page for updates.

Good thing I checked my e-mail this evening. Oh well, guess I will have to visit another time.

Hey, all. Thanks for coming out on Friday to all who showed up. Due to low participation, I am canceling the remaining time at LaunchHouse as of Noon Saturday. Unfortunately due to the way Meetup's scheduling works, I cannot update the event end time without altering the start time to be later than "now". Please work from home for the remainder of Ludum Dare, and good luck with your projects!

An update from Chris Sanyk due to the low turn-out...

LD update: Well, everyone cleared out of here in a hurry. I'll be back at Launch House at 10am to open the space. If no one shows up or announces intent to show up by 11am I will close down early and there will be no Sunday.

We are debuting a new social game platform in the coming days, and will be looking for some player and game developer feedback. So, if anyone is interested, I'll be showing up on Friday evening. And, if enough RSVP, who knows, we may even spring for pizzas, etc.

Hey Chris! Yes, I am VERY familiar with LD. Since the theme won't be announced until 9, I was planning on being there between 7-9 (maybe later if I give LD another go) to collect some feedback and maybe drum up some more attendance/support for the LD meet in the process. Re: reg monthly meetup. Unfortunately, a captive audience isn't what we're looking for at this point. We're seeking game devs and players willing to spend some time hands on with the platform while we watch. But, if this is going to be a problem, we're happy to find another group to help us out. I'll still show up just in case. ;)

I don't think it'll be a problem if you're finished before the theme is announced.
