What we're about

Club Soda is a movement of people who want to change their drinking, whether you want to cut down, stop for a bit, quit or stick.

With the help of our local volunteer Club Hosts we organise social, inspirational and supportive events to help you if you want to change your drinking or just fancy doing something social that does not involve lots of alcohol.

We know that one of the things that can stand in the way of cutting down, stopping for a bit or quitting is feeling like you can't go out anymore, so we often meet in pubs and bars. Having a night off doesn't mean having a night in.

As well as running social and inspirational events, Club Soda offers support and help to people who want to change their drinking, like an online community, regular check-ins to keep you on track, and access to a wide range of experts and coaches. ABOUT OUR SOCIALS Where possible we try to create real-world opportunities for our members to meet, to bring our community closer together and to help you practice the important art of meeting new people and socialising sober. Whether you are cutting down or going alcohol-free, these dry socials will help you develop new skills that are key to changing drinking habits – plus it’s also a great opportunity to get a little inspiration from members who are further along the journey than you. Club Soda lunches are friendly and informal, so don’t be daunted. There is an opportunity to chat to people going beforehand in the Facebook group and if you want someone to meet you before going to the venue, just email [masked] and we will arrange for another member to meet you and introduce you to the group.

Weybridge to West Byfleet Walk and Lunch

Weybridge Station

Lunch and Walk – 17th February – Weybridge to West Byfleet, along the River Wey Navigation Distance: 7 Miles (5 before lunch, 2 after) Meeting point: Weybridge Station – 10:45 for 11am start End point: West Byfleet Station Lunch: tbc – dog friendly pub along the Wey Terrain: Mostly flat, metalled pathways The River Wey Navigation was built around 100 years before the Canal Age, and runs for around 15 miles, linking Guildford to the Thames at Weybridge. This was extended in 1764 with the opening of the Godalming Navigation, which extended the waterway by another 4 miles. We’re not going quite that far on this walk, as we’re doing it in winter, so we’re going to do the first stretch between Weybridge and West Byfleet. The Wey Navigation provides a green corridor through some of Surrey’s most built up areas, and the unique landscape of the Navigation contains a rich variety of wildlife habitats in a relatively small area. If we’re really, really lucky, and walk along in near total silence, shushing strangers, we may see kingfishers and the ever shy water voles, but as that would make the walk considerably less fun we might just have to hang out for some herons, and other waterfowl, and just enjoy one another’s company. We’re going to meet at 10:45, and set off at 11 sharp. The walk to our lunch stop will take approx. 2 hours, and the walk to our end point will take around 45 minutes (speed on this latter part will obviously depend upon how much roast dinner we’ve eaten).
