This Code Lounge is more of an exploration of the technology behind Logstash, Kibana and Elastic Search. Along the way, we will investigate syslog, rsyslog, customised loggers for your Java applications, and log grokkers. If we have time, we will look at - how to write Alerting infrastructure on the ELK system. - comparison with other logging infrastructure such as Greylog2 and Apache Flume. To participate, you must *bring your own logs*. To do useful log parsing and analysis, please bring sample log files. Let us know in the comments if you can't, but we need to have a good amount of them to make the Lounge useful.
