A Note of Extreme Thanks and Disclosure Statements...

Good Evening Poets, Writers, Aspiring Artists, Spoken Word Artists, Musicians, Singers, all around creative minded folks, lovers of coffee and lovers of Quality Creative Expression!!

I, LadyVee DaPoet, host of 2 of the COFFIE group's featured events (Do You Lyric Lounge & The Unleashed Open Mic at Copper Blue) would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Roderick Smith and to all the members of the COFFIE group that show me so much love each and every month supporting my open mic variety shows. This vision of 'providing stages and microphones to voices that need to be heard' has grown and expanded over the years and I can't help to be proud of the opportunities and positive social connections that these two shows have helped to create.

As an artist, I believe in FULL honest disclosure. One of the COFFIE group's former members, Teresa Marie Lopez, has been banned and removed from the group. Rod and I received an email from Ms. Lopez asking us if we would be interested in hosting our creative events at Copper Blue. She made us both believe that it was her venue. I requested pictures, she took me on a tour of the facility, introduced me to her business partners and I was sold on the fact that she was the realtor/owner of the venue.

Teresa Marie and Rod had a business meeting which Ms. Lopez didn't invite me to. It was decided to make the Dec. 1st 'Open House at Copper Blue' a free admission event. Ms. Lopez made Rod believe the COFFIE group was "helping her out" with getting exposure for her venue. I was asked to host her event for free and DJ G Syde was asked to volunteer his services for no compensation. I was told recently by Ms. Lopez's business partners that since there was limited food at her event to sell on Dec. 1st, she profited from selling alcohol at the open house event and kept that profit for herself.

I requested contact information for Ms. Lopez's business partners. I was denied that. She told me that all inquiries about Copper Blue go through her. I know personally that she's spoken to and maybe met with a couple of the COFFIE members (Lisa, Renata Brown, etc.) about hosting events at Copper Blue.

PLEASE BE INFORMED: I finally scheduled a business meeting with Ms. Lopez's partners (the REAL decision makers and owners of Copper Blue) before last night's Unleashed Open Mic and they told me she has nothing to do with facility at all.

*******************

Recently, I've been given the opportunity to be the event coordinator for the cafe/performance venue 'Copper Blue'. My goal is to book Quality events that are run with full honesty and organized direction. I'm excited about this position because it will not only allow my creative vision to grow, but it will help the community expand their visions as well.

I'm working with the real owners/business partners of Copper Blue to acquire rental pricing along with terms and conditions. I'll post an email when that information is ready and available on Feb.1st on the COFFIE message board and also on the Unleashed Open Mic fan page: www.facebook.com/unleashedopenmic

Thank you once again for your time in reading this. Let's take this creativity onward, upward, to infinity...and Beyond! :)

Sincerely,

LadyVee DaPoet
