Startup Roundtable #20 focuses on crowdfunding and its implications to entrepreneurs. Crowdfunding has become a viable and widely used financing vehicle for 21st century entrepreneurs and business owners. We will introduce two separate panels at this event (one for equity based and one for non-equity based) We will dissect the crowdfunding industry and give you tips and advice on how to prepare, create and run a winning crowdfunding campaign for your business.

Stefan Loble is the founder and CEO of Bluff Works, a start-up apparel company that makes inspired wrinkle-free clothing for men. Stefan's inspiration came from believing that wrinkle free clothes could achieve a high level of performance, while still being office ready - rather than looking like travel clothes.

Amanda L. Barbara is the vice president of Pubslush, a global crowdfunding platform only for books. Authors can raise funds, understand their audience, and self-publish or traditionally publish their work. 

A philanthropist at heart, she serves on the board of directors for the Pubslush Foundation, which supports children’s literacy initiatives worldwide, and is a founder and director of The Barbara Family Foundation, an organization committed to assisting charities and children in need. 

Amanda is an advocate for crowdfunding in the publishing world and has spoken at various conferences, such as Writer's Digest, Tools of Change, Crowdfunding East Conference, and the Digital Publishing Innovation Summit, and has served as an ambassador and speaker at CONTEC at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Daryl H. Bryant, Founder and CEO of StartupValley, has spent the past fifteen years working in the internet and technology sectors. Bryant sits on the board of the Crowdfunding Intermediary Regulatory Advocates (CFIRA) and co-chairs the Portal Committee.  He is also a co-founding board member of the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA), as well as an Advisory Board member for the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship at Montclair State University. Well versed in crowdfunding, social, search, mobile and web technologies, Bryant consistently maintains his position on the forefront of the cutting-edge technological innovations. 

Daryl is also managing partner of Hudson Horizons, i3 Labs, and YourCompanyTV. With over ten years experience running Hudson Horizons, a multi-million dollar web and marketing agency, Daryl has taken his knowledge of the Web world and his passion in helping startups become successful over to StartupValley, an equity crowdfunding portal for the technology and life science sectors.  

A leader, innovator, and businessman in all professional endeavors, Bryant is also known for his charitable and philanthropic disposition.  Bryant was recently honored and named Entrepreneur of the Year in Best in Biz Awards 2013 International, named a 2013 NJBiz Forty Under 40, and his company selected as a finalist in the 2013 NJ Business of the Year awards.

John Hempill is a partner in the Corporate Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

John Hempill is counsel to a number of companies in various industries. He has extensive experience in private and public finance, ranging from representing private emerging growth companies, venture capital funds and strategic investors in seed rounds and later stage private financings, to representing public companies and investment banks in public offerings, as well as 144A and PIPE financings.

In addition to his debtor representations, Mr. Hempill has represented Chapter 11 trustees, creditors (both in Chapter 11 cases and out of court workouts), and significant shareholders.

Mr. Hempill has represented venture capital and other funds in their formation and capitalization. His practice also involves negotiating and documenting strategic alliances and joint ventures. He regularly counsels corporate boards and committees in transactional and high-profile as well as routine corporate governance matters.

Sang Lee is the CEO and founder of Return on Change, an online crowdinvestment platform connecting startups and investors. We specifically focus on startups in the Life Science, CleanTech, EdTech, Tech, and Social Enterprise industries. Sang is a recovering investment banker who strives to use his background in finance for good. His mission is to bring the fundamentals back into the world of early stage investing ensuring that both investors and startups are focused on the importance of weaving a social mission into the DNA of business to ensure long term sustainability while promoting the future democratization of startup finance.

He is also the Executive Director of CF50, a global crowdfunding think tank. He has been featured in both domestic and international publications including Forbes, Huffington Post, Crains, Fox Business, Korea Daily, and L’Express. He also teaches classes on crowdfunding and has spoken at various conferences and panels, the most recent of which include International CES in Las Vegas, 2nd Global Crowdfunding Bootcamp in Las Vegas, and the United Nations Youth Assembly in New York. Sang is also a guest contributor for Crowdfund Insider where he regularly shares his thoughts and insights on the crowdinvesting industry.

Matt is the co-founder and CEO of Stantt - a new apparel and technology startup that’s on a mission to put an end to small, medium and large and give guys an amazing fit right off-the-rack.  

Previous to starting Stantt, he lead innovation and strategy development as a brand manager at Johnson & Johnson for some of the country's favorite brands.

Ameet Padte loves learning how companies form around a concept, establish their identity, and execute a strategy.

Prior to joining SeedInvest, he was an equity research analyst at Nomura Securities International where he covered the ever-changing Internet, Media, and Advertising industries. Before that Ameet worked at the J. Walter Thompson (JWT) advertising agency where he devised international strategy for some of Johnson & Johnson's most prestigious brands. 

He enjoys discussing the impact that modern technology and social media have on our lives and spends his free time reading about politics, checking in on Foursquare, and draining the battery on his Android phone. Ameet graduated from Boston College with a double-major in Finance and Marketing.

Andrew Wong is a tech entrepreneur living in New York City. He founded NY Entrepreneurs Business Network (NYEBN) in 2009, a business event organization serving small businesses and startups.     I thoroughly enjoyed the Meetup and learning more about Equity & Non-equity crowdfund and in the short amount of mingling time, made some very good connections. The only negative is that I very much wanted to speak with the Non-equity panel but after both panels were complete they had already left and there wasn't a large gap between the panels to meet them at that point.
