Kenneth Adams has served as President & CEO of Empire State Development and Commissioner of the New York State Department of Economic Development since February 2011. 

Empire State Development, or “ESD”, is the economic development agency of New York State. Commissioner Adams and his colleagues manage a broad range of programs, incentives and services designed to increase private sector investment and job creation in New York. The organization has a staff of over 400 people located in 12 offices across the State. 

Mr. Adams works closely with Lieutenant Governor Robert J. Duffy to implement the Regional Economic Development Councils. Recently, ESD launched Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s newest economic development initiative, Start-Up NY. This unique program offers 10-year abatements on all taxes, including corporate and personal income taxes, to qualifying companies that co-locate on college and university campuses in New York.

Originally launched in 1994 as a punk magazine, VICE has expanded and diversified to include a network of online video channels, a television production studio, a record label, an in-house creative services agency and a book publishing division. 

Today VICE is the industry leader in producing and distributing premium web content, featuring over 60 original video series, covering news to travel to music to arts to fashion, and has a network of correspondents and bureaus spanning the globe.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon in November 2010, Curtis was the chief investment officer for fundamental fixed income portfolios at BlackRock, Inc. • Bill de Blasio - Mayor, New York City

Mayor Bill de Blasio is the 109th Mayor of New York City. • Robin Chase - Founder, Zipcar

Robin Chase is a transportation entrepreneur. She is founder and former CEO of Zipcar, the largest carsharing company in the world; Buzzcar, a service that brings together car owners and drivers in a carsharing marketplace in France; and GoLoco, an online ridesharing community. She is also Executive Chairman of Veniam ‘Works, a vehicle mesh communications company based in Portugal. 

She is currently on the Board of the World Resources Institute. She also served on the National Advisory Council for Innovation & Entrepreneurship for the US Department of Commerce, the Intelligent Transportations Systems Program Advisory Committee for the US Department of Transportation, the OECD’s International Transport Forum Advisory Board, the Massachusetts Governor’s Transportation Transition Working Group, and Boston Mayor’s Wireless Task Force. 

• Omar Epps - Actor and Investor, BrooklynWorks Films

Omar Epps currently stars in ABC’s new drama “Resurrection”. He starred in the powerhouse hit Fox medical drama, “House,” for eight seasons for which he received an NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” in 2007 and 2008. He was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” in 2005 as well as “Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series” in 2006, 2009 and again in 2012. The highly successful series was Emmy nominated for “Outstanding Drama Series” from 2006-2009. 

Epps was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2002 Showtime Original movie CONVICTION. Omar has starred in three HBO Original movies, FIRST TIME FELON directed by Charles Dutton, DAYBREAK co-starring Cuba Gooding Jr., and DEADLY VOYAGE produced by Danny Glover. This true story is about African stowaways on a ship bound for France. Once discovered by the French crew, each stowaway was killed off with the exception of one - Kingsley Ofusu. Omar portrayed Ofusu and won the Silver Nymph Award for Best Actor at the Monte Carlo Film Festival for this role. 

• Limor Fried - Founder, Adafruit

Limor "Ladyada" is a MIT engineer, open source hardware and software pioneer and entrepreneur. She is the founder of the educational electronics company, Adafruit. Her goal was to create the best place online for learning electronics and making the best designed products for makers of all ages and skill levels. Limor was the first female engineer on the cover of WIRED magazine, an EFF Pioneer Award recipient for open-source software & hardware and was recently awarded Entrepreneur magazine's Entrepreneur of the year -http://www.adafruit.com/about/

• Alicia Glen - Deputy Mayor, Housing and Economic Development

Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen leads the administration’s efforts to invest in emerging industries across the five boroughs, re-target unsuccessful corporate subsidies, build a new generation of affordable housing, and help New Yorkers secure good-paying jobs that can support a family. Ms. Glen began her career as a junior aide to then-Manhattan Borough President David Dinkins. After completing law school, she worked for Brooklyn Legal Services, where she advocated on behalf of low-income tenants and families in need of free legal counsel. 

Glen served as the Assistant Commissioner for Housing Finance at the New York City Department of Housing, Preservation and Development from 1998 to 2002, where she was responsible for financing the rehabilitation and construction of thousands of units of market, moderate and low-income units as well as overseeing the City’s supportive housing, tax credit and tax incentive programs. Prior to joining HPD, Ms. Glen was an associate attorney at Fulbright & Jaworski and at Kalkines, Arky, Zall & Bernstein. 

• Eric Hippeau - Managing Director, Lerer Ventures

Eric Hippeau is a Managing Director at Lerer Ventures, a leading early-stage venture capital fund focused on New York technology startups. Hippeau is also Chairman of RebelMouse and co-founder of NowThis News. Hippeau is a Special Partner at Softbank Capital and former Chief Executive Officer of The Huffington Post and a Special Partner at Softbank Capital, where he served as Managing Partner for many years. • Ben Huh - Founder and CEO, Cheezburger

• Neil Hunt - Chief Product Officer, Netflix

Neil Hunt has been at Netflix since 1999 and serves as Chief Product Officer, leading the product team, which designs, builds and optimizes the Netflix experience. 

Prior to Netflix, Neil worked from 1991 in various engineering and product roles at the software test tool companies Pure Software and its successors, Pure Atria and Rational Software. Before that, Neil was engaged in research in computer vision and image processing at the University of Aberdeen, Schlumberger Palo Alto Research Labs and Teleos Research. 

Neil has been a non-executive member of Logitech's board of directors since September 2010. 

• Piper Kerman - Author, Orange is the New Black

Piper Kerman is the author of the bestselling memoir, Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison, which has been adapted into an original television series for Netflix.
