I would love to see corporations engage with communities prior to making decisions. By doing so we open the gates to rich conversation and opportunity. I think it is time we started thinking broader and a new social awareness needs to exist.
During my career I have worked with some of the largest charities in order to develop campaigns and projects that make a difference to individuals, communities and the environment. Although currently I am not employed in this area, I have made a decision to move away from marketing into corporate social responsibility. I'd like to have an impact on how organisations view their On a personal level I am currently implementing a project to bring awareness around greyhound racing and its practices, through a social media and pozible crowd funding campaign.
The Nature Conservancy is working with sheep farmers in Chile to stop soil erosion and to introduce sustainable, profitable farming practices. Juno Consulting in Melbourne is running a leadership course which helps business people to mentor young, unemployed and disadvantaged youth. Kiva's microfinance site means everyone can help someone else to achieve their life goals. Finally, even though it has been around for a while, Oxfam's Make Poverty History is hard to go past when it comes to truly effective campaigns.
I am a Marketing and Communications Manager who has worked across corporate, not for profit and government. Recently I came to the realisation that what drives me is the ability to make a difference. So...it's time for a change!
