How did you hear about the Boulder & Beyond Vegan Meetup?

Randy Johnston told me about it

What made you decide to go vegan/ explore a more compassionate lifestyle?

I was a typical "healthy" eating Boulderite (egg whites, lean meats, dairy, steamed veggies, fruit) but my cholesterol was 223 (family members are over 300). I saw the Whole Foods Healthy Eating Challenge and took it. Cholesterol dropped to 150 in 3 weeks. On top of that, I am a big animal lover so going vegan was a natural progression. I am also fortunate to work for a vegan company (one of my major clients) so I learn wonderful things about the lifestyle every day. I've been vegucated. There is no going back.

What kind of activities would you like to see the group participate in?

I've only attended one pot luck which was great. There are many points of entry into a vegan lifestyle. Health, environment, love of animals. I think most people associate vegans with animal rights. At least I always did. I am doing a lot of education to friends about health benefits - and environmental benefits (important for many Boulderites) & it is resonating for some formerly stubborn eaters. I'd love to do even more about healthy vegan eating. Maybe speakers, cooking class etc..

On your veg journey, do you have specific challenges that you'd like help with?

I moved to Boulder in 2000 from NYC. I am an avid biker, snowboarder, traveler, animal lover, and I adore my career (communications/PR and marketing consultant for some incredible companies including So Delicious Dairy Free).
