On May 10, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. the Masonic Philosophical Society will be hosting a study group at the Salt Lake City Library. Each month a different topic, ranging from philosophy and science to religion and metaphysics, is discussed and debated.

May's topic will be conducted by Brother Matias Cumsille, Is there no greater aim than the liberation of those oppressed? After a short lecture a discussion and debate by the group will follow.

The story of the ages is Humanity's constant struggle between the weak and the strong, servant and lord, rich and poor, subject and king. Is this story near an end? Has the struggle changed? Will a utopia of liberty, equality, and fraternity ever be established upon the face of the Earth? Or has modern society twisted and redefined oppression into a moral fight for "righteousness"? This study group will attempt to define the philosophy of the oppressor and the duty of those that fight against injustice and for the Human Right.

“The greatest humanistic and historical task of the oppressed: to liberate themselves...” - Paulo Feire

This group for men and women, which is open to the public, is where non-members can learn more about Freemasonry, as well as meet local Freemasons.
