What we’re about
Common Ground is a welcoming writing group in Madison for people in their 20s–30s who want a consistent, low-pressure space to write, connect, and rediscover their creative voice. Our goal is simple: create a shared place where writers of all levels can slow down, make time for their words, and meet others who love storytelling in all its forms.
✨ What’s the goal of this group?
To build a supportive community of writers who value presence, creativity, and connection. Writing can feel lonely, but it doesn’t have to be — this group exists to help you carve out time to create, find accountability, and build genuine friendships along the way. We focus on progress, not perfection.
✨ Who is this group for?
Anyone in their 20s–30s who enjoys writing — fiction, poetry, journaling, essays, novels-in-progress, or simply getting thoughts out on paper. Whether you’re returning to writing after a long break or knee-deep in a project, you’re welcome here. No experience required. Just bring your notebook, your laptop, or the spark of an idea.
✨ What will we do at our meet-ups?
Each session includes:
A warm welcome + optional writing prompts to spark inspiration
Dedicated quiet writing time — usually 45–60 minutes
Optional sharing + open conversation at the end
Space to slow down, meet new people, and enjoy the creative process
Our meet-ups are intentionally low-key: no critique circles, no pressure to read aloud — just a friendly, grounded environment to write and connect.
If you’re looking to build a writing habit, spark creativity, meet new people in Madison, or simply enjoy a cozy evening with your notebook and a warm drink, you’ll fit right in.
