## Becoming Visible: A Participatory Workshop Series on Marketing

This event is part of the Actualize AiR Artist Development Series, in partnership with Curatorial Resident Regina Carillo. Free and open to the public, with limited spots available.

This is a working space for artists who want to move from ideas into action.
Participants will:

  • Share about your marketing efforts to date
  • Receive feedback, ideas, and support from the group
  • Build a clear, personalized action plan

Wednesday Workshop #1: Storytelling
This interactive workshop is designed to help artists understand, define, and present their personal and creative narratives. Through guided exercises, real-world examples, and group discussion, participants will explore how storytelling becomes a tool for visibility, connection, and opportunity.
Key themes:

  • Crafting your personal story
  • Navigating authenticity and commodification
  • Defining your values and artistic voice

Workshop Schedule
Opening & Icebreaker (30 min)

  • Introductions
  • How do you currently describe yourself as an artist?
  • What experiences have shaped your creative journey?

Storytelling in Practice (15 min)

  • Exploration of impactful storytelling
  • Examples from global movements and artist branding
  • Discussion: when storytelling connects vs when it feels transactional

Reflection Activity (30 min)

  • Participants will develop a clearer sense of identity through guided prompts:
  • What values guide your work?
  • What do you want to be known for?
  • What do you stand for and what do you challenge?

Integration & Application (30 min)

  • How can you use your story in real contexts? (social media, networking, exhibitions, pitches)
  • Turning insights into actionable next steps

Closing & Networking (15 min)

  • Share reflections
  • Open conversation and connections
