The program of the third Functional Groningen meetup has been changed from functional reactive programming to actor based programming.
The following meetups will build on the fundamentals of Ernst-Jan's FRP presentation, and because of the vacation season and the lower number of attendees, we've decided to push this topic to the next meetup.
Nevertheless, we've got another very exciting topic today focusing on concurrent programming through actors. A concept popularized by Erlang, but now also found (in many implementations) in several programming languages (even in the more recent Dart programming language).
The concepts of actors will be explained through the Akka framework, a framework capable of lifting both local as remote actor patterns onto the JVM.
