What we're about
Regular Biodanza and Dance of Awareness sessions in Birdham
Biodanza and Dance of Awareness offer a chance to move, dance, express and connect deeply with yourself and others. We offer regular sessions — Biodanza (with Mila) on the first Thursday of the month, and Dance of Awareness (with Marcus) on the third Thursday.
Both these classes are suitable for beginners. There are no steps to learn, no judgment, and no right and wrong. All are welcome!
From the Greek bio (life) and the Spanish danza (dance) — literally the dance of life). It is a system of self-development that uses music, movement and positive feelings to deepen self-awareness. It seeks to promote the ability to make a holistic link to oneself and one's emotions. It allows one to deepen your bonds with nature and other people and to express your feelings more naturally and productively.
DANCE OF AWARENESS
Dance of Awareness™ is a group dance and movement practice that offers a profound exploration of what it is to be in a body, and to move from inner awareness and outer connectedness. It incorporates several strands including character styles, authentic movement, five rhythms and mindfulness practice.
The DoA cycle — sensing, grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing — allows us to revisit our early body history, to celebrate the embodied patterns that make us unique, and discover new ways of being who we are. As we move and breathe together, we open more fully to self-awareness and a wider consciousness of our place in the world.
