Second Saturday Green Lake Walk

A once a month walk around Green Lake. Let's gather on the second Saturday of each month to celebrate Corginess. We can do a lap (or two for those needing to get really tired out) and accumulate our miles to Cardiff. This is a central location and able to accomodate many.  We can gather for coffee before or lunch afterwards, but plan on starting the walk at 10am and spending an hour or two walking.  (extreme weather will cancel, normal Seattle rain - probably not).

ABOUT THE PARK

Green Lake is one of Seattle’s most beloved parks. Its expanse of water and green space in the center of a dense urban neighborhood draws thousands of people daily from all over the city. The park serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, as well as numerous birds and waterfowl. The newly reconstructed 2.8-mile path around the lake provides a perfect recreational spot for runners, bikers, skaters and walkers. Many others use the athletic fields or visit the park for boating, picnics and swimming. Also, make sure to visit the Green Lake Small Craft Center.

By popular demand I will schedule second Saturday green lake walks throughout the summer. I am unable to host in June 8 and was hoping there would be somebody willing to step up and assume that position. These walks pretty much run themselves or the corgis run them for that matter, we just need somebody to say lets go (this way or that way).
Also, instead of doing a montly Tuesday evening walk (which I had planned) for the summer months, do you want me to schedule an offleash park visit. I will most likely not attend so these can be either non hosted (just whoever shows up, shows up) or if somebody wants to be designated host (again, an easy job just kind of be the go to person at the beginning and get things started) let me know and I will assign you that roll.

a beautiful day for a walk with the corgis. The KOMO 4 photographer was there taking pictures and hopefully he will post (if not check their website). Good turnout, and non corgi owners are timing their green lake walks just to meet the corgis.

OK, I was going to stop these Saturday morning walks for the summer seeing as so much else goes on during the next few months, but after some of the comments from other walkers yesterday, we are expected to be there on the second Saturday of the month. People look forward to all the happy corgis to brighten their day.
I want to take a vote and see if corgi owners still want to meet in the second Saturday of the month to walk Green Lake. I could be persuaded.

As much as I love to walk around the lake and see all the other beautiful corgis, Gracie does not seem to enjoy it very much. I'm sure most of you saw her sitting and me pleading with her at some point during the walk. So, I'm going to have to pass on future walks that are more than a mile or so. I would love to see them all at a dog park, running loose and herding each other. Wouldn't that be fun? :)

I'd absolutely love to do this every month. We were also thinking how it'd be fun to do a meet-up at the Robinswood small dog park in Bellevue. That way, we can let them all off their leashes and they can play with each other without getting tangled.

Henry and Annabelle loved the walk as much as their owners. We vote to continue the walks in the summer.

The Greenlake walk is so much fun. We will be there if it is scheduled. The comments & smiles we put on the faces of people in the community is priceless. It's so fun to share the joy that our dogs bring to us.

Budd had a setback from his cancer this week, but he is feeling very well tonight, so I think he can walk the first half mile tomorrow.

Any chance this could be moved to 11? We have a late sleeping baby, anf it's really hard to get to these so early.
