RE: [corgi-102] "Penny" Pembroke Welsh Corgi Needs a home!

Hello Teresa. My name is Wilma and I too am fostering a female Pembrooke Welsh Corgi. I have tried to find her a home but the 2 I had pending both fell through. If there is a resource that I may tap locally to post her please let me know. I've listed her on the Corgi Aide site and the corgi meetup site. She is very sweet and has been with me since January. My landlord is making noises about no dogs so I do need to find her a forever home soon. She is a delight and we call her our "fairy" dog. She is 9 and we did have her an ACL surgery to her hind leg with a grant from Corgi Aid. She is fully papered, micro chipped, healthy and under vet supervision. She is doing very well after the surgery. We have not yet taken her on any long walks as we were told to give at least 6 mos before attempting such a feat. We are walking her and increasing the walk a bit every week. She gets along with cats and parrots as long as the parrots continue to feed her. They have a little game with her. They drop food and watch her come over and "snuffle" for it. She makes such cute little noises when "snuffleing" The parrots call her Winkie Dog. Since they are also rescues, they have a vocabulary that is all their own. I guess one grew up with a Winkie Dog so every small dog is a Winkie Dog. LOL!! Anyway, any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated. I found her on Freecycle and just couldn't let her go to just anyone. I normally rescue parrots and parrakeets from Freecycle and rehome them through our local parrot network. Dogs are not my usual forte. We love her and would love to keep her. However, the landlord is making the noises and we need to find a good forever home for her. Thank you.

Penny is a 4 year old, spayed, red/white female corgi. She was bought from a pet store as a puppy and most likely came from a puppy mill before that. She is nervous around new people and environments but adjusts well once she realized no monsters are going to eat her (food is a great distraction). She was owned by a single woman who rarely left her house so Penny has only recently been leash trained, house broken, crate trained and introduced to grass. She does like to play fetch inside the house primarily with cat toys. She is currently fostering with cats and does will with them. There are also 2 corgis, both male (one intact), in the house that she does extremely well with. My parents 2 corgis, a male and female, are frequently playmates that she also does well with. Chickens and ducks hold no interest for her that I have seen except to look at and steal food from, no herding instinct whatsoever. She trusts women faster than men but once a man has her trust he has a couch buddy if he wants one or not. She loves to sit on the hassock by my feet usually touching me and will move around as I do to keep in contact. She is up for adoption through the Cascade Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club and anyone interested needs to file out a adoption application from the website. Please contact me for further information or to meet Penny - [address removed]
I did meet her at the Seattle Kennel Club show in the corgi booth, she is very sweet and did warm up to me with little effort.. but I'm kinda a goof ball and she liked that.. Let's see if we can Penny a forever loving home! I will try and post pictures on the corgi site under photos "Penny".
