Gameful – A secret HQ for world changing game developers

Corinne Cadalin will be presenting the online community, in which she is a volunteer moderator and webinar host.

Corinne will be explaining how Gameful all started, from their first initiative on Kickstarter to where it is and is heading now.

Short description to what Gameful is:

Gameful is an online site that unites gamers and game developers who want to help change the world and make our lives better.

It is a cross between a professional network and creative brainstorming space.

The goal is to find collaborators, mentors, jobs, ideas and funding and last but not least fun new games to play.

The Gamification of Work

According to Gartner, by 2015 more than 50% of innovation organisations will have gamified their innovation processes.

So, how do we go about gamifying things? Everyone whose played a game knows the feeling: Looking up from the screen and realising that hours have flown by without noticing. Where does this time go, why we don't notice it disappearing? And how game designers enable that experience?

Taking point of departure in Raph Koster's "Theory of Fun", and Csikszentmihalyi's "Positive Psychology", this presentation will discuss how we can use the techniques of computer games to enable more effective business processes, organisational adoption and customer loyalty.

Or, put another way: how we can get everyone play games, and be better at their jobs. At the same time.

Torben Ellert is a game designer at IO Interactive, working on Hitman: Absolution. His background includes interaction design, communication theory and software development.
