Come join Matt and Charlie on Saturday July 27th for a rare opportunity to photograph from the Waldo Canyon Burn.

This opportunity is brought to us by the Rocky Mountain Field Institute ( (RMFI), a local non-profit dedicated to ecological restoration, trail restoration, and research and education on environmental stewardship. RMFI is leading a crew to restore the area and to minimize the environmental impacts of the Waldo Canyon Fire through water shed restoration.

Access to this area is highly restricted, so this is a wonderful opportunity. This meetup will be focused on capturing the rebirth of the ecology of the Waldo Canyon Burn, the work of the RMFI staff and volunteers, and the impact that their work has on our local environment and safety.

This meetup is part of an on-going series of meetups designed to grant access to Colorado Springs photographers to the burn area and other RMFI project sites such as the Garden of the Gods. At the end of the year, RMFI will be partnering with the Colorado Springs Creative Photography Group on an annual photography exhibit and contest to feature landscapes, themes of rebirth, the intertwined human/nature connection, and photojournalism pieces that accurately and evocatively depict the impact of ecological restoration projects such as the ones that RMFI leads.

This meetup is restricted to a small group of three photographers, so RSVP quickly!

We are seeking a certain kind of photographer for these projects. Not just photographers with talent, a good eye or with drive and determination-- but photographers who want to use visual arts to make a difference in their community. This is an absolute tremendous opportunity for photographers who believe in the power of photography to make a difference in peoples lives and their community.

This is a 'community minded' project and it is implied and expected that photographers grant RMFI the use of your photos to help promote the work of their projects.

The opportunities are rare and wonderful and we are looking for a few photographers up for the challenge.

Directions and logistical details will be emailed to those that RSVP.
