Watch out for Byaside's bike racks. I parked my bike there after the ride to go eat something and when I came back it was gone! someone busted my bike combination lock cable.

    June 3, 2013

    • rydelhigh

A u-lock/hardened chain is typically not cut by a torch. The tool of choice for a good u-lock/chain is a cordless angle grinder

      June 3, 2013

    • domingo

No, actually is "watch out for Bayside racks", and plenty more, I am afraid. I had had the same bike and chain for 20 years, left it practically everywhere and anywhere and this happened only now. A sign of the times...

Awesome ride!! So much stamina, wanna keep riding!!

    May 31, 2013

  • John F.

Awesome time at my first CM tonight!! Many thanks to the policemen who corked US1 for us as well, that was awesome!

I rode solo but in the future I'll be bringing friends along as well, such a great experience. My favorite part was seeing everyone's faces as we rode through town like "wtf is all this?!" haha great job everyone!

    2 · May 31, 2013

Very well organized . Lots of fun.

    May 31, 2013

  • Zorin

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the police corking US 1 for us! I don't know if they'll ever see this, but thank you!

The ride was wonderful, and the rainy part was actually nice and refreshing! I do have to remind people, though, to STAY in the mass! We were getting pretty spread out at a few points and when that happens, the mass will be broken up when traffic starts moving through intersections.

Also, pace-setters really should stay under 15MPH. I saw a good number of people struggling to keep up; not all of us cycle every day. I like going fast too, but this is a ride for everyone, not just the serious cyclists.

Wonderful ride! Will definitely make it to the next one. :)

Gonna have to bail on this. Rest of my crew are scared of any bs happening because of the rain. Anyone else that's riding tonight...ride safe.

Does anyone know where we can leave our cars that's close to government center?

    May 31, 2013

I saw somewhere that you can park on flagler for free at night, but you should verify.

Wondering if the plan is still on due to the rain???? Laura yes I suggest you park your car at one of the Metrorail Stations as Zorin suggested is very convenient. The metrorail will take you right at the Gov.'t Center.

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. I have two newbies tagging along and I'm scared they might not do too well in the rain.

      May 31, 2013

  • IvanFrankA

Something to note, regardless of the current state of rain when we actually start riding: BE CAREFUL WITH THE RAILROAD TRACKS and street markings. These become very slippery and difficult to ride over even for riders with some experience.

    May 31, 2013

I went through the map's route and wrote it down as a list. West on Flagler to 22nd ave

East on Charles ave to Main Hwy (Grove)
North on Main Hwy to McFarlne
South on McFarlne To S. Bayshore Dr.
North on S. Bayshore to Kirk St. (in front of Kennedy Park)
On Kirk st. take 22nd ave going north up to SW 8th st.
East on SW 8th st. to sw 12th ave
North on 12 ave to sw 1st st.
East on Sw 1st st. to Se 2nd ave (passing Miami River and overpass)
South on se 2nd ave to se 2nd st (only one block)
West on se 2nd st to south Miami Ave.
    Hope it helps

    May 30, 2013

I say just wear clothes you don't mind getting wet, zip-lock any electronics you have with you (like your phone) and get the hell wet. It's fun and will keep you cool.

Yes, music is quite welcome. You'll be surprised, but there are a few riders who have designed their own mobile speakers that play music for everyone behind and around them!
