Tell us about yourself (professionally). What technical leadership experience do you have already?

I've had two jobs as an engineer, then went to work for myself for a few years, and now I'm starting a company that's about to get funded. I think I have a decent handle on people but of course a job always looks easy when you don't know how it is done.

What languages/frameworks do you program in (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)? What is your favorite, if different?

Lately I've spent most of my time divided between Ruby and Objective-C. I used to do Java and Perl.

What topics might you be interested in?

1. How to manage technical people. 2. How to manage non-technical managers who don't understand technical people.

Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?

I've spent more time than I probably should studying and performing improv comedy (like Dick Costolo!). I believe it is useful in a lot of off-stage settings. The "say YES to life!" stuff usually gets printed in magazines but there are more subtle lessons to be learned that have been useful to me.

What is your favorite version control system and why?

git because, ever since reading Nick Farina's "Git Is Simpler Than You Think", I have a solid mental model of how it works.

Working on software for blue collar building maintenance guys. Previously did Java for a stock exchange and a defense contractor. I miss playing adventure games with my brother and my dad. @benzado on Twitter.
