Make sure your employee googles and understands the ramifications of the Heart Taxation Act……..its a doozy if you stay in the country ona  greencard as little as 6 years and 2 days either side (eg 8 partial calendar years)

I am not a lawyer, but from being involved in these before, the company has to pay for it, full stop.

Thanks,

Paying for Green Card sponsorship

Hi all,

I have an employee who's interested in the company sponsoring him for a Green Card. I understand the legal costs and filing fees can be in excess of $10,000. I'm curious whether this is usually paid by the company, the employee, or shared between them. And perhaps it's different for large vs small companies. If anyone has experience with this, it would be great to hear about it.

Thanks,

Steve Saporta
