wfh/flex/distributed engineers
Hi All:
Need the hive mind help to think through distributed and wholly-remote engineers. Looking for help in setting up remote product teams.

For context, I've previously been part of organizations that went remote, offered it to the tech teams and engaged an HR consultant to advise and manage the change etc. So have experience w doing it at scale but it was also a part of reducing our dependence on contractors, so very related but was solving two different problems. Also not looking at this time for offshore/augment options.

Now, at a different co - we're mostly-NYC based, with one remote location. We offer flex/wfh options, but given the hiring challenges in NYC, we're Looking at offering full remote options for new hires. My plan is to offer this in Q1 2020 and in the meantime, want to speak to 3-4 companies to understand some common pitfalls and best practices. Our managers are relatively junior and don't have experience w managing distributed engineers.

Hope to hear back from the group.
