Miso and Fun Ferments for Kids!
Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 18 ,[masked]:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Resobox, Long Island City, New York
For young fermentation enthusiasts as well as beginners of any age this event provides an opportunity to choose your own miso soup option from over a dozen different types we made, and also to make your own if you want to and leave with your own jar of miso!
Not only will you get to find out what miso is by tasting it, we’ll have the fixings for kids that like to mash up big bowls of beans and rice with their hands. The definition of fun!
And, Kirsten and Christopher Shockey of Ferment Works will show you how to make other fun ferments as well you can taste! These things are described in their new book, but you get to ask this kid experienced Mom and Dad questions about all the stuff. And they will answer you!
This event is for kids! Bring an adult. Or come if you are a beginner and might be old enough to drive already. We hope you can join us! Signing of any of their books as well, and lots of samplings of tasty things!
Kirsten and Christopher got their start in fermenting foods twenty years ago on a 40-acre hillside smallholding which grew into their local organic food company, though their exposure to legume ferments stretches a bit farther back.
They are the co-authors of bestselling Fermented Vegetables, Fiery Ferments, and the new Miso, Tempeh, Natto and other Tasty Ferments books that came from their desires to both help people eat in new ways, both for the health of themselves and the planet.
