Welcome! I’m Katherine, the host of this global FASTING AND SPIRITUALITY group. I live in Denver and began hosting a Denver/Boulder meetup focused on fasting, but that soon was drawing people from around the world since there really isn't a good gathering place for learning about fasting and sharing *best practices*.

Even though many of us started fasting for weight loss or health reasons, one aspect of fasting that just keeps coming up is fasting as a spiritual practice. Fasting has been used since at least the 5th century and in every major religion as a way to prepare for God's blessings, strengthen prayers, show devotion, mourn, heal illness, perform miracles, and for a host of other reasons we'll explore together.

That demand for a "fasting and spirituality" support group led me to extend this group to people in Dallas, Fort Worth, and El Paso. This way, you WILL get to meet some people who are local to you, but you will also get to connect with great folks from other places who share your interest in spiritual fasting.

Whether you are brand new to intermittent fasting or a veteran faster, shy or outgoing, from any religion or are not particularly religious, but are just curious, this group is for you.

We're here to support each other, which means there is one ground rule:

RESPECT! Just as you find truth in your own opinion, so does each person in this group. Whether you agree or disagree with other's opinions, please remember to treat others the way you want to be treated... with kindness and respect! We are not here to tell anyone they are wrong, but to support and learn from each other.

If you are seeking a community of people who are similarly intrigued by the powerful spiritual benefits of fasting; looking for support, accountability, or want a little help in making it easier and more fun to stick with fasting —this is the place! June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month. In honor of this, we’re starting June off with a special group fast.
We’ll be sharing findings from a scientific review paper on the promising research that looks specifically at the effects of fasting on the brain (for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Mental Health and a number of other brain-related conditions).

This challenge is about motivating you to put this knowledge into action with a whole bunch of other amazing fasters.
There’s something powerful about digging deep and choosing to do something challenging just for YOU. And, then knowing you’re not alone, but have the support of others going through the same thing with you – it just FEELS different than when you fast alone.
