What Can An Award Winning Journalist Tell Us About Online Storytelling?

  • Apr 9, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Mark your calendars, Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 the Dallas Interactive Marketing & Internet SEO/SEM Meetup will be having their April Meetup! Join us and our guest speaker Robert Riggs for an informative presentation entitled What Can An Award Winning Journalist Tell Us About Online Storytelling?

With its Penguin and Panda updates, Google sent a loud and clear message that quality content counts. Google Authorship gives hope to professional content marketers that put a premium on creating unique information that is educational, helpful, and timely.  It favors truly identified authors who create authoritative content in their niches.

Every company must become a media producer.  But how do you tell a story that connects and converts customers.  A Peabody Award winning television reporter turned new media producer shares the secrets of story telling.

In this session you will learn;

1.  How to use Shakespeare’s 3 act play

2.  How To Slay The Monster and Take Their Stuff

3.  Cover your beat

4.  Ride the wave of trends

5.  Break News

We are excited to be having our Meetup at Connective Hub.  Connective Hub is a community that combines the diversity of a collaborative working space, the structure and capabilities of a successful company, the discipline of a business incubator, the atmosphere of a hip coffee shop, the flexibility of a nationwide executive office and the power of an entrepreneurial community. Well, that defines the Connective hub in a nutshell.

The event cost will be $5 per person and we accept cash and credit cards.  We will not be offering a full dinner option at this venue.

6:30 - 7:00 PM Networking Time
7:00 - 8:00 PM Presentation & Q&A
8:00 - 8:30 PM More Networking Time

Meet our Guest Speaker:

Robert Riggs

Corrupt politicians and business scoundrels knew they were in for a bad day upon hearing the ominous announcement, “Robert Riggs is here to see you!”

“Here to see you”, meant that the Peabody Award winning television reporter had a deep grasp of facts that were likely to make them appear to be the crook that that really were.

Riggs’ gotcha interviews drew beads of sweat as his targets often stared into the camera like a deer caught in headlights.

In one famous encounter, Riggs simply asked a powerful Texas representative, “Who pays your rent?”  A deafening sixty-second silence followed with an outburst of, “I have no comment!” Spurred by Riggs’ story, an FBI bribery investigation later sent the rep as well as members of the Dallas City Council to prison.

Riggs’ mastery of the art of story telling also earned him three Alfred I. duPont Columbia University Journalism Awards.  The premier magazine shows of Sixty Minutes andNightline have featured his stories.

During the invasion of Iraq in 2003, he was embedded with the lead Army ground unit and was hit by friendly fire.  Riggs covered the White House, Congress, Pentagon, terrorist attacks, and countless disasters during his journalism career.

Today, Riggs is the executive producer of Video Social Media for Speakeasy. Speakeasy is a digital marketing and promotions agency that leverages social media, content marketing, and analytical tools to  bring in new customers and to bring back old friends when you need them.

Prior to journalism, he worked in Congress and on political campaigns.  Robert is an Outstanding Alumnus from the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University.

Hey, I'm looking for an SEO expert to build a wordpress site with PPC. I want to spend my money here in Dallas and build a long term relationship than moves into full time work.
We are launching a ppc campaign for referring realtors to buyers and sellers looking for a realtor online. Here are two sites that do similar. I am looking for you to build a simple wordpress site and lead capture pages and set them up with google adwords. I want a Dallas TX web developer who knows wordpress, ppc, landing pages, and is interested in long term work. This is an experiment, so we need to get the site up and getting clicks with minimal fuss and cost. Please send your resume/portfolio/websites, a description of how you'd like to manage me and this site development, and your phone number and I'll call you. We can work on this today/this weekend. Thanks, Joe Payton[masked]-c
