• What we'll do
Scottish country dancing is social dancing, danced in sets of three or four couples -- not highland step dances with swords, etc. ! It is related to contra dancing, ceilidh dancing, English country dancing (think Jane Austen movies), Irish country sets, and American square dancing. The figures and music migrate among all these related dances, often with variation in style and different names.

The Silver State Scottish Country Dancers meet at 7:30 on most Thursdays at the Nevada Dance Academy, . Beginner instruction begins at 7:30, with dances becoming more advanced as the evening progresses.

No partner, kilt or other special attire, or Scottish connections required, just a desire enjoy the dance. This is an adult class, but older children serious about social dancing can usually be accommodated.
