Dear friends in dance --
Please join the Knoxville Movement Collective this Sunday, Oct 27 from 11 am - 1 pm to sweat your fears at our All Hallows dance wave.
Explore your shadow side, pierce the veil between the seen and unseen worlds, and venture to the dark side of the dance floor at this All Hallows / Dance of the Dead wave. Costumes and shape-shifting are encouraged...
11 am warm up
The Dance Wave is free-form, unstructured dance/flow that allows for freedom to express our unique self through movement/dance within a supportive and respectful community. The dances are drug-free, alcohol-free, smoke-free, and conversation-free. The music follows a wave journey based on the five rhythms of flowing (grounding), staccato (expression), chaos (release), lyrical (surrender) and stillness (emptiness). Letting go and allowing your body to follow these rhythms takes you into a state of meditation through movement…through ecstatic/meditative dance, you can allow yourself to fall apart and be reborn.
The dance is open to everyone! No partner or dancing ability required - only breath and soul.
Please dress comfortably and bring your own water. You will sweat your prayers!
The KMC facilitates dance waves based on Gabrielle Roth's 5 Rhythms twice every month: on 2nd Fridays at 7 pm and last Sundays at 11 am. Our mission is to create space for individual freedom to express our authentic selves in movement within a respectful and supportive community. We encourage everyone to join the dance!
Dance waves are held at BAPA (address below) and there is a sliding scale donation of $5-10. Please bring water and arrive by 11:20 am so you don't miss the opening circle.
